Greetings;
I hope your summer was as filled
with joyful gifts as mine. Children, Grandchildren, new friends,
wonderful trips and so much more. I remember a quote by Howard
Caesar, Life
is meant to be good. Howard is the senior minister
of Unity of Houston. On a very busy freeway in Houston you
will find a large billboard with a picture of him with those
words. When I lived there, every time I passed the billboard,
it made me smile. It brought to mind the always available
bountifulness of God and I would immediately begin to replay
the wonderful gifts which made my life good. This always
put me in a state of Thankfulness.
So often we accept the
bountifulness of God without giving much thought to its source..
But when we scale the heights of spiritual awareness in prayers
of gratitude, we can behold in all its majesty and unlimited
power the divine source of , life, love and substance that
is ceaselessly available from the heart of God. This my friends,
is the Goodness of God.
The goodness of
God will lead you to a new understanding of the potential
that lies within you. God's goodness is transforming, when
you begin to relax and know God is leading you out of what
appears to be less than the best into the very best. Believe
it, expect it, and give thanks for it.
This
is the message of Jesus; that you might know it is your birthright
to have life, not meagerly but abundantly. There is no place
in your life that is separate from the Goodness of God. It
cannot be diminished or destroyed. You can expect the best
to come to you. After all God is the giver of every good
thing. Often this Goodness of God seems beyond personal reasoning
or human comprehension. It is these times we may need to
release our own idea of goodness in order to open up to the
greater goodness of God. Attune ourselves to God.
Jesus' mind and heart were continuously attuned to God. He
is a powerful example of the goodness of God. He has shown
us what happens when faith looks persistently to the unending
goodness of God. When you follow his example, you become
constantly aware of God's goodness eternally available to
you.
I must share this event with you.
This summer we spent time at a wilderness resort with my
daughter and four grandchildren. There was a beautiful lake
for swimming and canoeing. Shortly after checking in we missed
our nine year old grandson, I volunteered to find him. As
I approached the lake I saw him, out in the middle, standing
in the rear of a canoe maneuvering it with a paddle, just
as if he had been doing it forever. I stood and watched this
little fellow, with a smile as big as Texas, paddle to shore.
He jumped out of the canoe, pulled it ashore just like a
pro. Then ran to my waiting arms, " That was
very good," I said "But do you think it
was wise to be out on the lake alone?" He was
silent for a moment then replied " I was not
alone Grandma, God was with me. Remember, you said
God is always with us?" I immediately
gave thanks for the gift of this child. As we walked
back to the cabin, I asked "Where did you learn
to handle a canoe so well, have you been canoeing
before?" He
answered " No,
I just did it, I guess it was God helping me since
no one else was there." I
squeezed his hand, " I'm sure it was, you
did a great job."
Be assured,
dear friends, the moment we begin to accept the
truth that we are walking with God, that we are spiritual
beings, we open our minds and hearts to God's good.
We let go of anxious, burdensome thoughts, and
become completely receptive to God's activity in us.
I invite all to come join us each Sunday as we worship and
give thanks for the many blessings we have received. We have
a wonderful September planned, talented speakers on Wednesdays,
pot luck and friendship Sunday, and much more.
Life really is meant to be Good.
Blessings,
Rev. Paulette
