Easter Greetings
Do you remember your childhood? When Spring
could not come fast enough? When Easter meant a new outfit,
going to church and a big family dinner. When going outside
to play in the electric air, with the fragrant earth coming
to life, the birds returning after their winter travels?
As a little girl I loved to go to my Grandparents, go down
to the bayou with a friend, get in an old boat, each of us
on one end, lay back with the sun in our faces and imagine
God was with us keeping us safe from all harm as we sailed
and explored our world. We had no fear, just faith.
As and adult the month of April, and Easter time has brought
me many opportunities for joyfulness and the experience
of resurrection. Being restored and renewed. My only child
was born in April, What a joyful time, Also in April I had
major surgery for cancer and overcame. I had my first speaking
engagement as a minister and overcame that also. This April
along with you I celebrated our first anniversary in our
beautiful church home. It was at these times I found myself
going to My boat on the Bayou, My place of solitude, The
place in my mind where I feel one with My God. I am safe,
free to explore my world and the events I have manifested
in my life. I enjoy the freedom of creativity here and
receive the guidance I need to make another step on my journey.
To resurrect myself once again.
Jesus spent prayerful times alone. Now
during those days he went out to the mountain to pray:
and he spent the night in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12).
Evidently, Jesus needed these times in order to feel closer
to God—to
be alone awhile to talk to God, to trust God, and to be guided
by God, and yes in the Garden of Gethsemane he went away
alone to pray.
Do you have a place you
retreat to? Have you a boat on the bayou or a grassy knoll
by a stream, a mountain top? Do you go there in your mind
to seek out God and ask for guidance and give thanks for
the many gifts of your life? These places or maybe just
times of solitude are so important. They help you relax and
release your concerns. They help you find the secret place
within, They remind you God is always there. Unity's co-founder,
Myrtle Fillmore, wrote, Each
day you should have a period of stillness when the soul
may gather sustaining power and restoring life.
This
communion with God enables you to know more fully the freeing,
peace giving power of God. In these moments, let your entire
being sing with gratitude to God. Choose to live in an
awareness of God within you and within all creation. Remember
before you chose God - God chose you.
Yes! This Easter Sunday Service is a special time among
others at Unity of Sachse. I personally and on behalf of
our Church Family, extend an invitation for you to come
worship with us. To experience Christ's message and enhance
your relationship with God.
Blessings,
