Have you ever missed important information
because you weren't giving its source your full
attention? Do you listen when someone is telling
you something important to them? Do you allow
yourself to be distracted by your personal thoughts
during conversations with others?
Recently, my husband called and told me he was
going to be late coming home from errands, due to backed up
traffic.
I was very involved in what I was doing at
the time, and I didn't give him my full attention, I soon
forgot his call. As a result, I found myself concerned when
he did not return home when I expected.Even the dog was on
alert, acknowledging every sound. I picked up the telephone,
when he answered, I asked "where are you, is there a problem?" He
answered, "No, I was stuck in traffic, see you shortly."
I knew that such inattention was a result of
not listening with my heart and if I continued to do this,
it could affect our communication, and as a result, our relationship.
Upon reflection, I thought about how sometimes
the same kind of confusion can happen in other areas of
our lives --- even in our relationship with God. Our times
of prayer become less effective if we don't fully center
ourselves in God.and pause to listen with our hearts and
minds for the "still
small voice"---the voice of love and wisdom.
Have you experienced confusion, a time when
your priorities seem a bit out of order, do you say to yourself,
why is this happening to me? It could be you have not kept
yourself centered in God's love and wisdom. I have found solutions
each time I allow myself to become fully attuned to God-- heart,
mind and Spirit. This to will help you feel the harmony of
thought and feeling and will keep you receptive to the love
and wisdom of God. Listen with your heart for the answer you
are seeking.
Your private moments of prayer provide a very
special time for you to listen with your heart. They open the
way to a greater understanding of your Spiritual nature as
the beloved child of God you are. The more undivided attention
you Give to God , the more you will truly feel how you are
loved.
Yes! God's love and wisdom, a combination that
constitutes your source of inspiration and motivation, will
fill you with ideas that can lead to abundant living-- to a
better, more meaningful life.
Remember, as you make a habit of listening
with your heart each day, you will discover a great feeling
of peace, the kind of peace "which surpasses all understanding" (Phil.4:7).
In any situation in which you may find yourself filled
with doubt, confusion, or touched by someone who needs your
prayers. Be still and feel the deep inner peace well up inside
you, it is always within you to keep you calm and secure.
Strong and steady on your path.
